Bohemian Rhapsody is a foot-stomping celebration of Queen, their music and their extraordinary lead singer Freddie Mercury. While bravely facing a recent AIDS diagnosis, Freddie leads the band in one of the greatest performances in the history of rock music. The role of Marvel’s scourge of Spider-Man, Venom, has been a point of contention in Hollywood ever since Topher Grace first took on the role in 2007’s Spider-Man 3 – but that’s never been the case more than now, after Tom Hardy played the character in this year’s Venom movie.
But what could have been if other actors who were linked to the role had taken it on? There’ve been a few!
In this video, we’ll be looking at five actors who almost played Venom in a live action movie.
The actors in question are; American actor and screenwriter Finn Wittrock (star of All My Children, American Horror Story and La La Land), American actor and model Chris Zylka (star of The Secret Circle, The Amazing Spider-Man and The Leftovers), WWE’s Irish superstar Sheamus AKA Stephen Farrelly (star of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, Scooby-Doo! and WWE: Curse of the Speed Demon and The Jetsons & WWE: Robo-WrestleMania!), American actor and model Kellan Lutz (star of The Twilight Saga, The Expendables 3 and The Legend of Hercules) and Australian actor and comedian Ryan Kwanten (star of Home and Away, True Blood and The Oath).
