To say that Nintendo has some pretty famous characters is an understatement. Mario is up there with Mickey Mouse in terms of fame and recognition. In fact, it’s not too far off to say that Mario might be one of the most recognized fictional characters in history. Nintendo has been in this business for a long time, longer than any gaming company on the market today, so it’s no surprise that they have remained one of the top gaming companies in the world.
However, famous characters aside, every once in a while, there will be characters Nintendo propped up for their games that simply have not been used in a while. Whether their game came and went without a sequel, or they were around for a bit in a string of games but never really took off, these are the unsung heroes of Nintendo. Some of the best characters are often the most overlooked. Think back to the early days of Donkey Kong and the full DK crew that was introduced back in Donkey Kong 64. Some other characters may have been in other games outside of their own like Captain Falcon. Seriously, how many people even remember F-Zero? In any case, we look at some of the most underrated and obscure characters in Nintendo’s history and those that deserve to be in the spotlight again.
